LCI-Louisiana Workers' Compensation

Mark Tullis, a fifth generation New Orleanian, has served as the administrator of LCI - Louisiana Workers' Compensation for over 20 years. The Mandeville-based company provides workers' compensation coverage to over 4,000 Louisiana businesses; most of their customers are small and family-owned businesses.

After Katrina, LCI’s offices (located at that time in New Orleans) suffered from major flooding and they lost important files, papers, and equipment. “You know that eventually you’ll recover. You just don’t know how long it will take. So the sooner you start to work, the quicker you’ll recover,” said Mark.

When it comes to recovery, Mark says, “The major motivation for those in a leadership position in any business is that you want to provide for your family and you know your employees want to do the same.”

Immediately after the storm, LCI leased a new office and got back to work.  Mark said LCI was able to re-open quickly because they are financially sound. The company was able to make payroll to help their employees get back on their feet. Mark ensured his employees were able to recover which in turn allowed them to help re-build the business and their community.
